Shared Drive Not Showing in Laser App Enterprise
Shared Drive Not Showing in Laser App Enterprise after Being Elevated to Administrator in Windows 8.1 and 10
If a user is using Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 and are trying to network Laser App to a shared drive and the user is not able to see the shared drive in Laser App Enterprise, in the section called Laser App Admin Utility for the Global Forms Directory, Global Settings Directory and Global Tables Directory, is because windows did not elevate our program to administrative level to see them. This is a known issue that Microsoft is aware of, where programs are not able to see the shared drives in the elevated admin level of Windows. Microsoft has not release a date of when this issue will be fix, but you can read the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3035277/mapped-drives-are-not-available-from-an-elevated-prompt-when-uac-is-configured-to-prompt-for-credentials-in-windows
There are currently two methods to work around this issue:
Method 1
►1. In Local Group Policy Editor, locate the following Group Policy Path:
Local Computer Policy\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
►Configure the following Policy to Prompt for consent:
User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode
This method only works with Windows Professional or higher of Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Method 2
►This method will require you to edit the Windows Policies in the windows registry. To access the Windows Registry Editor, Press the Windows Key + R key on the keyboard. This will open the Run window and then type regedit, and this will open the Windows Registry Editor. Then follow this directory pathway:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
►In the System folder, you will need to create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value. To do this right click on the right of the window and select New and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value. Then name this value to EnableLinkedConnections , then double click the value and type a 1 in the Value Data field and then click OK.
►Exit out of the Windows Registry Editor and restart your computer.

This method will work with Windows Home Edition or higher of Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
